CONCEPT
In current times wellbeing and sustainability are key, so mindfulness, or bringing back our consciousness to one’s own self, is one of the ways to slow down. ‘Wearing Wellbeing’ is an exploration of slow fashion, which is aimed at a broad age range to achieve ‘wellbeing’ of the targeted group.
I’ve tried to bring in new emerging fibers and the old ways of wearing a garment together in a contemporary way to bring out the experience of wellness.
FINDING MEANING
“Clothing, like food, is essential for health and wellbeing. Our clothes do to us on the outside what food does inside. They protect and warm our bodies and influence the way we feel and present to the world”- Milburn
So, it is essential to connect ourselves with the garment and invest ourselves in finding meaning in what we wear. Let's slow down to achieve a sense of wellbeing!
INSPIRATION
You might shed some tears as you take a peek at the ‘onion gallery’ but believe me, it has got some special benefits. Onion skin is considered to be good for human skin; it is a rich source of potent antioxidants and is anti-inflammatory in nature. Hence the design inspiration is taken from onions!
From a design perspective, onions are a great resource, the form, the lines and the layers were a highlight; they worked both aesthetically and metaphorically.

WELLNESS TEXTILES
Touch has a memory so I needed to choose skin-friendly yarns. Developing and designing the “second skin” (i.e. clothing) starts with the smallest unit that is fiber. Therefore, I researched different fibers and studied emerging “wellness textiles” and found that some fibers are good enough to be next to our skin and are also sustainable by nature.
